WinACC (Winchester Action on Climate Change) and Winchester Friends of the Earth are holding an open event to consider how we can make Winchester’s air cleaner, greener and safer. It is a particularly timely moment to consider how we can do more to improve Winchester’s air quality with the current Movement Strategy consultation underway and Winchester’s new Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) now in place.

Presenters include:

  • Simon Finch, Corporate Head of Regulatory at Winchester City Council (WCC), who will provide more details on the joint WCC and Hampshire County Council Movement Strategy consultation;
  • Chris Gilham of Winchester Friends of the Earth, who will be outlining the different forms of air pollution with their effects on health and the climate along with the trends in central Winchester;
  • David Ingram, Head of Environment and Licensing at WCC, who will provide an update on the implementation and progress of Winchester’s AQAP

Members of the public are welcome to attend this FREE event. Those attending will be encouraged to consider what actions they would like to see and what action they themselves can take. The organisers hope that the current consultation will be seen as an excellent opportunity to demonstrate public support for making improved air quality a clear aim of the future Movement Strategy.

Light refreshments will be served from 7.15 pm.
