Hampshire Climate Action Network is an informal way for local groups to share ideas and collaborate. Meetings take place every six months and are open to people active on climate change in their community.  "Hampshire" includes the county and also Southampton and Portsmouth.

Booking isn't required but it is helpful to tell us if you plan to come so we get the right number of chairs / coffee-mugs - email  Doors open at 10:00 for coffee, and we end at 13:00 followed by "bring and share" lunch.

Directions to venue: 

By car – the venue is in the middle of Alton up the hill from the Bank car park – usually plenty of spaces. 

By bike – plenty of space for bikes beside the Parish Centre.

By train – Woking to Alton – two trains an hour 0936 from Woking arrives 1010 in Alton then it’s a 10 minute walk – head for the church spire!

By bus - Winchester to Alton  0920 from Winchester arrives 1008 in Alton – 5 mins from Alton High Street or 10 minutes from the station. Details of bus.

1. Air pollution /Clean Air / BREATHE
  • report about the activists' learning and action planning day on 28 June
  • next steps for collaboration (joint stunts, sharing tools, surveys, etc)
  • HampshireCAN has been invited to be an official supporter of clean air day so we should decide if we want to.

2. Influencing Hampshire County Council commission of inquiry to set out a vision to 2050 -  what we could contribute collectively? 

3. Off grid homes, raised by Energy Alton: - consider joint campaign to raise awareness

                -The % of homes off the gas grid varies from 16% in Eastleigh to 39% in Winchester – across Hampshire  the rural  average is circa 33%. What can we do to raise awareness to change from oil and LPG? Further information"

4. Committee on Climate Change – June 2018 report. Should we act together to publicise this widely and the need for government action?

5. Date of next meeting and host organisation (hosting rotates).
