Professor Joy Carter CBE

University of Winchester Vice Chancellor

Professor Joy Carter was appointed patron of WinACC in October 2012. Professor Carter has a background in the field of Environmental Geochemistry with a particular interest in environmental pollution and their impacts on health, and was recognised in the 2018 New Year's Honours List with a CBE for services to Higher Education.

Professor Carter said “WinACC is a professional, well managed organisation which is working tirelessly in an area of huge importance to human kind. It inspires and facilitates organisations and citizens in Winchester and District to work together creatively to accelerate the move to a low carbon society.” 

Tim Jackson

Principal of Sparsholt College

Tim Jackson was appointed as a patron in November 2012. Tim is a graduate Applied Biologist who worked with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food before training to teach in Further Education and becoming Principal of Sparsholt College in 1998. 

Sustainability is already a core value and theme across all the Sparsholt College courses and Tim is keen to broaden the curriculum to include emerging occupations that are developing in environmentally sustainable technology.

WinACC Director Chris Holloway said “WinACC values its links with education and young people, and we try to base all our activities on solid intellectual foundations. So we are delighted to have Tim as a WinACC patron. We hope to work together to develop local skills in the green economy”
