The City Council’s Cabinet decided on 3 December 2014 to narrow consideration of a replacement leisure centre to one option at River Park and two at Bar End plus the option of refurbishment.

The existing Leisure Centre is responsible for a very large carbon footprint, so a replacement should be good news.

The City Council must look at the greenhouse gas implications of all the options - from construction, from running the building, and the mpact on the travel carbon footprints of the people who use it.  See what WinACC has said about this already.

Following a competitive tender, work has been commissioned from RPT Consulting to look in depth at the finances of these options for improved leisure facilities in Winchester , including possible contributions from funding partners, cost and income projections. The analysis is due to be completed in spring 2015.
