The aim of the SAVE research project is to work with the community of Kings Worthy to explore two aspects of community life:

  • From the residents’ viewpoint, what are the most important local issues where some improvement would make the biggest difference and have the greatest positive impact on the wellbeing of the community?
  • How can local residents best be supported to use less energy (particularly electricity) and how could this benefit the local (and wider) community economically, environmentally or socially?

Over the two year period, 2016/17, a dedicated project worker will work with local residents to explore these issues. The worker will also actively support the community in achieving its own aspirations as part of a dedicated strategy to be agreed locally.

The expectation is that, supporting the local community to achieve its own goals in this way, will make it easier to achieve meaningful and lasting reductions in energy consumption as part of a combined research effort.

The research project is being funded by Ofgem (the energy industry regulator) through the Low Carbon Network Fund.
