Ofgem has approved a number of online energy company comparison services through the Ofgem Confidence Code - a good place to look when comparing home energy deals to save money and energy.
What is the Confidence Code?
The Confidence Code is a Code of Practice that governs independent energy price comparison sites.
It insists that its members follow key principles for how they must operate their service. So using a site with the Confidence Code logo means that the process of switching energy supplier should be easier, more reliable and reassuring for you. Further information on the requirements accredited sites must follow can be found in the Confidence Code – Code of Practice.
Accredited sites must meet tighter standards on how tariffs are displayed so consumers can be confident they can find the best deals in the market. Sites must also list prominently which energy companies they have commission arrangements with, and make it clear that they can earn commission on certain tariffs.
Why choose a site covered by the Confidence Code?
The sites covered by the Confidence Code act independently of suppliers, so you can be sure that options and prices have been calculated and are displayed in a fair and unbiased way.
They can help you find the best deal for you in your local area and provide you with a free and easy-to-use switching service. They also give detailed information on each tariff, including gas and electricity unit prices and any discounts that are available.
