Thank you for sending in your comments on the Winchester City Council proposed three-year Council Strategy for 2017-2020.

WCC will take account of your comments and a final version will be presented to Cabinet and Full Council in February 2017 for approval.

Why is this so important?

The Strategy will drive all the Council’s services and projects. We can only get  the Council to act on climate change if it is clearly in their three-year Strategy. Winchester City Council has a new Leader Caroline Horrill and a new Chief Executive Laura Taylor this January. They know climate change is real. They need to know that public opinion supports them in taking action.

WinACC replied:

  1. We are pleased that the Council aims to tackle emissions and has the target of 40% cut in emissions by 2020. This should be in the Strategy itself.
  2. They should also set a renewable energy target of 15% of the energy used in Winchester District from renewable sources by 2020.
