The Campaign for Better Transport (CBT) are petitioning the Government for recent funding announced on roads to be available to spend on all roads, not just major roads.

The CBT proposes that new funding be used to improve roads for people on foot, cycle and public transport, as well as for motor vehicles. The Government is consulting on defining a Major Road Network identifying the busiest A-roads in the local authority network, and then targeting extra investment at them. The current proposals limit the spending to road projects over £20 million.
