Winchester City Council adopted the Winchester District Local Plan Part 2 – Development Management and Site Allocations on 5 April 2017.   All documents are on the Council’s website.

The Local Plan for the Winchester District (Part 2) has passed inspection. Local Plan Parts 1 and 2 together provide a strong planning policy for the District, setting out areas for growth and those to be protected, together with a comprehensive suite of policies to guide individual planning applications.

Winchester Friends of the Earth have sent a hard-hitting statement to the Planning Inspector about air pollution in Winchester city.

Winchester City Council submitted Winchester District Local Plan Part 2 – Development Management and Site Allocations on 23 March 2016 for examination. The next step is that a Planning Inspector will conduct hearings into the matters he/she wishes to explore, to determine whether or not the plan is ‘sound’.

Following the Paris Conference, plans like this will have to ramp up their proposals to reduce climate change.

Winchester Town Forum meeting 6.30 Monday 5 October 2015 and Winchester Cabinet (Local Plan) meeting 9.30 am Tuesday 6 October will both discuss the latest draft of part 2 of the Local Plan. Email with points you would like WinACC to raise at either meeting.

In 2015, the Govertnment over-turned its plans to require new homes to meet low carbon standards.

As a result, the following appeared on the planning page of Winchester City Council's website

Sustainable Low and Zero Carbon Built Development – implementation of Local Plan Part 1 policy CP11.

Winchester City Council Local Plan Committee on 1 June 2015 has been cancelled. The meeting to look at the issues raised by responses to their consultation, and consider any proposed amendments to the Plan, will now happen in September.
